I received a 1001 error. What does it mean?

Are you trying to contribute to a campaign but seeing that error message?

When a contributor clicks the "Pay" button, a payment window will appear to complete the transaction.

The only time the 1001 error message will appear is when the contributor has manually cancelled the transaction before it has been completed by clicking the "Cancel payment and return to​" link just under the PayPal login area.

So what do I do?

We'll be happy to look into it for you, but we'll need to know the exact text of the error message that appears inside the popup window (along with the associated error code number, if any) before the 1001 error message appears.

This generic error message appears for your contributors after they've cancelled the transaction for any reason. If you've been contacted by a contributor asking about this error, please provide them with a link to this Help Page and we'll look into it as soon as we can.
