What's the difference between PayPal and WePay?

Our system uses PayPal and WePay, both trusted by millions, to process all contributions.

✩ Why should I use WePay if I already have a PayPal account?

Although you may be more familiar with PayPal, WePay has proven to be a much more reliable and stable payment processor with far fewer failed payments, which means less frustration for your contributors and more contributions for you. Click here for more information about our relationship with WePay.

Please note: You're not required to use WePay.

✩ Why should I keep WePay on my campaign? I've been using PayPal for years and never had any problems.

All crowdfunding platforms who use PayPal are required to use PayPal's Adaptive Payments technology to process payments through their campaigns.

One of the drawbacks of this technology that we've found over the years is that PayPal has a high number of failed transactions when compared to WePay (PayPal-to-PayPal transactions usually work okay, but contributing via credit card through PayPal can be challenging at times).

Through our experience, we've found that if someone isn't able to successfully contribute to your campaign via credit card through PayPal for whatever reason, when they try the same card again through WePay it will almost always go through on the first try.

In other words, your campaign's chances of success are vastly increased if you also use WePay to receive contributions.

The chart below will give you a detailed comparison between WePay and PayPal:
